Sports massage is a great option for those who want to take their training to the next level or for those who need extra mobility for the activities they most enjoy in life. Sports massage can be integrated into any part of your training regime. My sports massage treatment is tailored to the specific sporting needs of the individual. I incorporate a wide range of sporting techniques that include passive movement of joints and gentle mobilisations to improve joint range of motion and reduce joint stiffness, preparing the body for optimal performance.

Deep tissue massage involves applying firm pressure and slow strokes to focus on deeper layers of muscle, a great choice for assisting in the breakdown of old scar tissue and adhesions or for those who would like deeper layers of muscle to be targeted and realigned, preparing the body for optimal performance.

Myofascial release (MFR) fascia is a connective tissue that wraps around all skeletal muscles and organs. Restricted fascia constricts muscles, decreases blood supply causing myofascial pain and decreases movement to joints. MFR is performed directly on skin without oil and is a very effective technique that applies gentle sustained pressure to ease postural compensations and restore natural myofascial balance. I like to incorporate MFR techniques at the beginning of most sessions, following Tom Myers, Anatomy Trains principles.

Myofascial cupping therapy assists the body in maintaining range of motion, eliminating myofascial trigger points and reducing restrictive and sometimes painful fascial adhesions commonly found from repetitive movement originating from sports and the workplace. A smooth & painless gliding technique that I often incorporate with most sports performance massage sessions to gain optimal performance.

Please note: Due to the negative pressure inside the cup, this technique may leave mild redness to the area for 24 to 48 hours.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) aims to assist the lymphatic system in the draining of excess fluid away from the sight of swelling back to the heart. A very gentle and relaxing treatment that is a great option to reduce swelling caused by sports injuries, post-surgery, bruising, sinusitis and pre and post flying.

Please note: My training is specific to dependant oedemas only and not for the treatment of lymphedema. For more information please consult your Doctor or contact Josip directly.

Sports strapping can give you that extra support your joints and ligaments need to avoid those niggling injuries that keep you on the sidelines. Principally, sports strapping is a fantastic way to reinstate confidence in an athlete’s ability to perform at their best. Kinesio-taping is perfect for pain relief, accelerating the recovery of bruising and swelling that are commonly associated with sports, I also use it often as a reminder for postural habit re-education to my clients with neck, shoulder and back pain.  Sports strapping or Kensiotaping can be incorporated into any therapeutic or sports massage session.
